112 - PETERBOROUGH
A 1900s repurposed barn that sits in a beautiful plot of land.
THE PERSON: a couple with three grown children, their spouses, a large extended family, and friends.
THE SPACE: an old barn with a sound structure and beautiful surroundings.
THE nidu: the barn has been repurposed as a ‘home away from home’ for a family that is scattered everywhere from Seattle to London. It has been conceived as a nest to reconnect and recharge. With this purpose in mind, the first floor has been divided into two main areas: the social section with ample space to spend time together comfortably and a private section for bedrooms, equipped with peace and quiet. The second floor has been added to serve as a loft with a home office, a meditation room and reading corners.
THE IMPACT: this beautiful structure is a home-away-from-home for a family who lives scattered around the world. It is decorated in an alpine modern style with the family’s collection of art and furniture from former homes. It is filled with original wooden finishes and details that reminds them of where they came from.
